The American West has always conjured up images of cowboys and frontier pioneers — for they were the original vanguard of pathfinders that helped the young United States grow.  These rugged wranglers and trailblazers pushed the boundaries as our young nation expanded ‘from Sea to Shining Sea.’

Indeed, as US denizens of the 1800s and early 1900s pushed further westward, they steadily moved away from European influence.  In so doing, they became more independent, and thereby more American.

It is no wonder then that even today the American West continues to inform and revitalize the USA’s identity.  The values, work ethic, and cowboy codes embodied by the American West have bequeathed a legacy of time-honored traditions that continue to be fondly remembered, even celebrated.

Knowing that the American West has occupied a significant role in US history, I’ve penned a new book, Hidden Tales of the Cowboy:  Volume One Essential Cowboy Poetry.  It is the first of a series that shall explore the American West — its vast expanse and its promise of both progress and possibilities that have become embedded in the American character.   I hope you enjoy it.  You can order it now by clicking this link… Hidden Tales of the Cowboy: Volume One Essential Cowboy Poetry
